Ayurveda lays special emphasis on the process of making ghee. Raw Milk from our Gir Cows is heated and fermented overnight to make curd. The curd is then churned gradually to extract Makhan which is then heated on a slow flame to make Desi Bilona Ghee. Ghee made using this Ayurvedic process is easier to digest, has higher amounts of Omega 3, 6 & 9. It is filled with essential Vitamins A, D, E and K.

Ghee needs to be stored away from direct sunlight and at room temperature for better keeping quality.

Gir Cows A2 Milk and Gir Cows A2 Starter Culture (Curd).

Just Gir Cows Bilona Ghee and nothing else. No Preservatives, Additives or any such Chemicals.

Add as much ghee that it enhances the original taste of the food, but does not mask it. Never consume anything cold such as ice cream, cold drink, cold buttermilk or even cold water after having ghee. There is a reason why we always had ghee with hot dishes like Parathas, Khichdi Kadhi, and Dal Rice etc.

Ayurveda places ghee on top of all the oily foods. It is Ojas vardhak meaning it enhances life energy. It is an excellent Anupana, essential for transporting the properties of herbs to the deeper tissue layers of the body. Ingesting ghee helps you keep warm within making it an excellent winter choice. It is a sacred symbol of auspiciousness with wide range applications from religious customs to Ayurvedic medicines and most importantly cooking. From our dals to khichdi and halwas to chapatti; ghee is one kitchen staple we are never getting enough of. In fact, swapping ghee with fattening refined oils has perhaps been one of the biggest blunders of the modern cooking.

Let’s change that. Let’s go back. !!

What is Bilona Ghee?

Our Bilona Ghee is made using cultured White Butter (Makhan). Milk is boiled and then fermented into curd overnight using Curd or Chaas. It is then churned using traditional Bilona method to extract Makhan (White Butter) which is then heated to make Desi Bilona Ghee. It usually takes 30 Liters of milk to make one Litre Ghee using this process.

What is the difference between the Ghee made from Cream and Makhan?

Ghee can either be made by heating cream or by makhan. As per Ayurveda, ghee must be made using makhan as it is healthier than any other Ghee. Cream based Ghee is sticky, has higher saturated fat content and just doesn’t taste as good as Bilona Ghee.

What is Free Grazing or Grass-Fed Milk?

Cows in large dairy farms are usually tied all day and are fed with a lot of unnatural diet. The natural diet of Cows is wide variety of seasonal Green Fodder. This can be possible if the Cows graze in vast Green Pastures and Forests throughout the year which substantially increases the Vit A and D in milk and also improves the health of the cows.

What is Cruelty Free Milk?

Hormone Free – It’s a usual practice by dairy farmers to inject the cattle with harmful hormones like the bovine growth hormone and oxytocin which have known to cause complications such as pre mature puberty in children. Our milk is 100% hormone free. Each and every cattle at our farm has a name and we all consider them a part of our family. Calves Priority – We give first priority to the calves by feeding them 25-50% milk of the milk and once they are fully fed we start the milking process.

All the cows, be it milking or non-milking are treated the same way and none of them end up in the streets. This entire process makes our milk ethical and cruelty free.
